Working with Children

For your convenience, we have gathered some applicable literature related to working with children:

Codes of Conduct

The club has gathered and expects its members to abide by the following Codes of Conduct:

Under 6s and Under 7s are 'In-House' for 2008

Have you heard the great news? Your committee has decided to conduct the Under 6 and Under 7 games 'in-house' for 2008. What this means is that all the games for these two age groups will be amongst ourselves at Murray Farm...no more travelling to the outer reaches of the Granville district! It also provides us with the added flexibility of being able to set our own fixtures, allowing for school holidays, cub/school camps, etc.

SSG (Small-Sided Games) are also here for 2008!

As promoted by the FFA, small-sided games are the go for the younger soccer players and North Rocks is no exception. The small-sided games concept has fewer players on the field and no goalkeeper, allowing much more involvement by all the players, and we'll be conducting it for all of our Under 6 and Under 7 teams in 2008.

The concept has (in the case of Under 6s) a 'squad' of 10 players that will have 4 v 4 games against another Under 6 squad from within our club. For example, the 6 Cahill squad will split into two teams on game day and play against the two-team 6 Kewell squad, with

  • 6 Cahill (black) v 6 Kewell (black)...refereed by the 6 Cahill coach and
  • 6 Cahill (white) v 6 Kewell (white)...refereed by the 6 Kewell coach

The squads for Under 7s are 12-strong, with matches being conducted as 5 v 5 players.

Note that players can be borrowed from within a squad or even from other teams. Note also that there will be no need for ID cards, teams sheets, match scores, etc. Players are welcome to play in multiple matches if teams are short.

Murray Farm Reserve will have the Northern end of the main field marked out with four (4) 30m x 20m SSG fields and there will be 4 matches under way at any given time. The Under 6s will be followed by the Under 7s on this half of the main field and the Under 8s (still playing non-competitive 'Roo Ball' in the Granville Association) will use the Southern half of the main field.
