PREMIER LEAGUE REPORT
1st Grade North Rocks 1 v Kellyville 3
Reserve Grade North Rocks 2 v Kellyville 1
As mentioned last week ... "heads are lifting", and the North Rocks Premier League is starting to resemble something we expected during our pre-season success.
Against Kellyville, North Rocks were ahead in the game early after a deep cross towards Jimmy Cross was intercepted by a Kolts defender who did the job for us and steered it into his own net. Surely after that, as Rocks maintained the pressure ... we hit the crossbar and the hosts were on the back foot. Kellyville got back into the game and eventually went on with it, but it again was due to lapses by North Rocks, and not necessarily due to outstanding play by our opponents.
Our mental application slips, due to our shortages in required commitment, attendance, application and execution ... it is that simple. The improvements this week were indicative of the improved effort at training.
If we keep going, and keep committing more and more each week ... the results will turn around.
Special mention to Reserve Grade this week, who put the club's first 2012 PL win on the scoreboard. North Rocks were the better team in the first half, but found themselves down 0-1 at half time. In the second half, they were outplayed, but displayed that "extra" we have been asking for each week, and they were rewarded. Andrew Jones chased down a ball that many guys would have given up on, and drove the equaliser into the Kellyville net in a typical show of guts and determination.
Then, our debutante Arber (Besart Berisha) Fejzullahu won us the game with a "Wayne Rooney" bicycle kick that left everybody (including the vocal Kellyville manager) speechless. Great reward for the lads who dug deep and delivered.
We are still short a few players, and carrying some injuries ... but the squad is coming back to where we expected to be.
The Epping Hotel Men of the Match were Jess McMullen (1st) and John O'Reilly (Res.)
Sunday - North Rocks 0 v. Miranda Magpies 7
Sunday we were proud to be able to represent the club in the State (Bill Cullinan) Cup. With injuries, suspensions, and unavailables, we were always going to be up against it, and many Reserve Graders proudly stepped up and did the club proud.
The score (in some respects) was irrelevant, as our 50/50 team had played the day before, and we were playing the team that was third-placed in the strong Sutherland competition, and who had not played the day before. Nobody gave up, everybody gave 100% ... and that is the sort of stuff we will build the remainder of our season on.
The Epping Hotel Man of the Match was Ozgur Ozluk.

Next up is Kellyville at Bernie Mullane Sports complex this Saturday 12th May at 1pm and 3pm followed on Sunday by the 2nd round of the Bill Cullinan Cup, A Football NSW run knockout comp for open mens teams. Our Premier League play Miranda Magpies at 2pm at North Rocks Park 13th May. Come and support your Premier League team!

Help your Club and Association Stamp out Abuse and Violence
Report all incidents of Abuse and Unsavoury Behaviour
What should you as a Spectator, a Coach, Manager or Team Official, or even a 'Club Referee' do if you notice a serious incident of abuse or violence?
Please urgently contact the host club's Grounds Official (bright orange or green vests) and/or a host Committee Member and let them know what you heard or witnessed. They should be able to organise an appropriate response to the situation.
Inaction will not force a change in people's behaviour, especially that directed at our referees.
If the incident is of a less serious nature but one you feel the need to submit a report about, please fill out and submit an Incident Report form found on the Granville website. www.granvillesoccer.com.au/index.php This report should be sent to your Club Secretary secretary@nrsfc.com.au (or the hosting club if you have no affiliation with a club). Only reports completed on these forms will be accepted and the reports must be received by the Association within forty eight (48) hours of the incident.
Helping us work towards a safer, more enjoyable environment in which to play our football!
