The Club has been awarded the opportunity to host a Foundation of Football coaching course by Football Australia.
The Foundation of Football course is aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with advanced beginner to competent level players or players aged up to approximately fifteen (15) years old. Coaches will participate in practical sessions covering the basics of techniques as well as learning about basic playing principles of the game.
COURSE INFORMATION
Date: Mondays 16, 23 & 30 March (all three sessions must be completed to receive the accreditation).
Time: 6.30 – 9.30pm.
Where: North Rocks Park.
Cost: Normally costs $100 (but the Association has generously agreed to provide this for free to coaches of Member clubs like North Rocks – enter a discount code at the time of registration).
Why should you complete the course?
It’s fun – The presenters are full of energy and enthusiasm, and they’ll bring these training drills to life. You’ll learn a heap of stuff that will give you new ideas and make your coaching job easier. We want our coaches to have the appropriate qualifications – in the same way that you wouldn’t send a child to school without an appropriately qualified teacher, we want our coaches best positioned to impart knowledge and guide the players through this very important phase of their football development.
Note that this is the only accreditation that we will ask you to complete, unless, of course, you express an interest in undertaking some of the more advanced coaching courses, which the Club is generally happy to support.
There are no prerequisites to attending the course and that there is no exam or follow up assessment – you just need to register, show up and participate. As such, it’s equally suitable whether you’ve been playing football for years or if you’ve never kicked a ball in your life. From the Club’s point of view, we are looking to get as many coaches accredited in this age group as possible.
FAQs
Q. My team trains on the same night as the course? What do I do?
A. We would ask you to prioritise this course. It’s only three nights and will add significant value to how you coach your team in the future. Can your assistant coach or manager take training for the night, even if they just put the team into a game? Can you arrange for your team to play another team in a game? If you are struggling to find a solution that allows you to attend while the team trains, let your Age Coordinator know – there may be a way that the club can help you…
Q. I can’t register for the course yet because I can’t register in playfootball. What do I do?
A. Make sure that you show up at the course. Just make sure that your Age Coordinator knows that you are attending, so as we can account for you.
